Mgahinga, the smallest but incredibly picturesque national park in Uganda, offers an unforgettable experience of Gorilla Trekking. Encompassing an area of 33 square kilometers, Mgahinga National Park is situated at a lofty altitude of 4,127 meters. Nestled in the southwestern corner of Uganda, it shares borders with Congo and Rwanda in the Kisoro district.
Established in 1991 with the primary objective of safeguarding the critically endangered mountain gorillas, Mgahinga National Park is home to the Nyakagezi Gorilla Family. This is the sole habituated gorilla family residing within the park. Remarkably, it is one of only four locations worldwide where gorilla trekking is conducted, the others being Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, and Virunga National Park in DR Congo.
