Experience the 5-day safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you’ll have the chance to witness Africa’s iconic “Big 5” mammals and be mesmerized by the park’s breathtaking forests, expansive savannahs, and stunning landscapes. Located in the western part of Uganda, the park was named after Queen Elizabeth II in 1954 and covers an extensive area of over 1,900 square kilometers.
It boasts two remarkable crater lakes, Lake Edward and Lake George, interconnected by the renowned Kazinga Channel. As Uganda’s second-largest and most popular park, Queen Elizabeth is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including over 95 mammal species such as buffaloes, hippos, elephants, lions, hyenas, leopards, crocodiles, and various antelopes like the Uganda Kob.
The park is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, housing over 600 species of birds. Amidst this rich biodiversity, the park’s cooled crater lakes stand out as one of its remarkable features, harmoniously complementing the sprawling savannahs, lush forests, and fertile wetlands that are set against the backdrop of the awe-inspiring Rwenzori Mountains.

You can expect to encounter a variety of wildlife such as buffaloes, bush bucks, elephants, giant forest hogs, hyenas, Uganda kobs, lions, and waterbucks. After the game drive, return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch before embarking on the highly anticipated afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Animals including buffaloes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and antelopes frequent the channel for drinking and bathing. It is also a great spot to observe predators like leopards or hyenas approaching for a drink. DAY 4 : Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge
Begin your day by waking up early and heading to the briefing point for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge. The underground forest within the gorge is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, chimpanzees, and other primates. After the briefing, descend into the gorge to search for the primates. After spending time with the chimpanzees, enjoy lunch and later visit the Katwe crater lake, where local residents engage in salt mining. The lake's high salt concentration prohibits wildlife, but it has been a vital resource for the Katwe community for centuries. Witness the salt mining process, walk along the mud walkways, and gain insights into the challenging yet fascinating trade. The tour offers a unique perspective and contributes to the community's livelihood. Look out for wildlife during the scenic drive to Katwe, including buffaloes and elephants. After the tour, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodations. Budget options include Simba Camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge, while luxury lodges are Jacana Safari Lodge and Mweya Safari Lodge.
